How The 5 AM Club can Change your Life

In his book “The 5 AM Club”, Robin Sharma writes about a world-changing habit that helps one achieve their goals and become a better person. The 5 AM Club method is not for the faint-hearted. It requires discipline, sacrifice and focus. No one likes the sound of their alarm in the morning, especially when the sun is not up yet. Sharma writes about a routine which involves getting out of bed and starting your day with yourself in mind. Between 5 and 6 am, it’s all about you. Sharma teaches a 20/20/20 formula which involves 20 minutes of exercise, 20 minutes planning, and then 20 minutes learning. Whether it be exercise, journaling, meditation, learning a new skill, everything you plan into these slots is geared towards making a better version of yourself. To get the most out of the 5 AM Club, you have to focus on yourself and not anyone else.

In the COVID-19 lockdown, I attempted this self-improvement technique. At the time of starting this lifestyle, I was in my final year of engineering. I was busy writing my thesis on a data science project which was way above my knowledge base. The techniques that I needed to learn where much more difficult than anything I had done before. In addition to writing this thesis, I had 5 engineering subjects. I decided that the best time to do my thesis work was between 6 and 9 am.
